Only seating and high security: What kind of uPod would be best for the Sosny Sanatorium?

The development of the project for an eco-friendly uST transport and infrastructure complex for the Sosny Sanatorium is ongoing. Recently, the specifics of the technical requirements for a uPod designed for transporting vacationers have been revealed.

Fast charging

The uPod will consist of passenger and traction modules. In addition to electric motors, climate control systems, and other essential components and assemblies, the traction module will include an energy storage device with supercapacitors. Due to this feature, the uPod will be able to quickly charge while passengers are boarding and disembarking. To achieve that, charging buses will be built into the bottom of the passenger module, and the battery will receive power through an automatically operating pantograph.

Comfort of movement

The uPod will be equipped with a two-stage air suspension system, enabling the passenger module to be adjusted in height with ease. The interior of the vehicle, which can accommodate up to six passengers, has been carefully designed to provide a comfortable and secure environment, including features that make it suitable for wheelchair users. A modern microclimate control system will ensure an effective temperature for both passengers and the proper functioning of the integrated equipment.

High level of security

A comprehensive anti-derailment system has been implemented in the uPod’s traction trolley. The special hanging system of the passenger module effectively reduces lateral oscillations and enhances wind resistance. All wheels will have a polyurethane coating with a high level of adhesion to the track surface, which will improve traffic safety.

There are special bumpers for solid particles larger than 3 mm and brushes that remove debris in order to prevent objects from falling underneath the support wheels. In case of an incident, the emergency stop system, equipped with a set of limit switches, will initiate the braking process.

New opportunities for vacationers

The comfortable and safe uST complex will be part of a large-scale renovation of the sanatorium's facilities to celebrate its 50th anniversary. By the event, it is also planned to build a modern spa complex and individual guesthouses on the shore of Lake Naroch.
This will demonstrate the dedication to cutting-edge environmental and engineering solutions, while also enhancing the level of convenience and security for all visitors, including people with disabilities.
