A new episode of answers to frequently asked questions about Karat: the complex applicability and the track uniqueness
Unitsky String Technologies Inc. continues the cycle of materials with answers to frequently asked questions about the Karat transport and infrastructure complex. In which areas of transportation can it be used? What was the uniqueness of the track structure construction? What is the uBus power consumption? How resistant is the uPod to high temperatures? Find out the answers to these and other frequently asked questions in our publication.
Why is the uBus Karat referred to as a flagship uPod?
The tropical uBus contains the best of all rail electric vehicles developed using uST technology: spacious interior, 360° view, improved door design, automatic climate control system with increased power, two-stage air suspension, multi-layer noise-absorbing coating, etc. Compared to its predecessors, the uPod is at a fundamentally new level, which is why the company calls it a flagship.

How much electricity is needed to power the uBus Karat?
The energy consumption at a speed of 100 km/h is 41.4 kWh per 100 km (10.3 liters per 100 km in terms of liquid fuel).

Are there seats for passengers with disabilities in the uPod?
Yes, there is a place for wheelchair transportation in the uBus, as well as accessibility for passengers with disabilities. Thus, thanks to the unique design of sliding doors with an enlarged doorway, boarding and disembarking for passengers who use wheelchairs will become even more convenient due to the additional space.

What are the features of the Karat complex track construction in comparison with the track structures located in the EcoTechnoPark?
During the construction of the Karat complex, the specialists of Unitsky String Technologies Inc. carried out a unique technical operation – they were the first in the world to lift a stressed track structure weighing 350 tons and more than 2 km long to a height of 15 m. This procedure is worthy of entry into the Guinness Book of Records.
The lifting of a linear structure of this length was the completion of the stage of work on the construction of a track on a transport overpass located in the uSky Center.

Will passengers be comfortable in the uBus cabin, for example, at a temperature of +40 0С outside?
The uPod Karat is maximally adapted to high temperatures and humidity. An automatic climate control system with increased power ensures that the temperature is comfortable for passengers even at extreme +55 0С overboard. The installation also selects the optimal oxygen concentration in the cabin. The device is equipped with condensate collection tanks. Water from them can be drained at stations and used, for example, for watering plants.

For what tasks is the Karat complex suitable, except for urban passenger transportation?
The engineering developments and know-how of UST Inc., which are the basis of the complex, allow it to be used for various tasks: high-speed communication between the city and the suburbs, the development of tourism in regions with strict environmental requirements, passenger transportation in arid climates, the organization of transport accessibility in resort areas, and also as an effective transport for regions with difficult terrain, or a convenient and fast transfer from or to the airport.

You can find out more information about the Karat complex in the previous two episodes with answers to frequently asked questions. In the first material, UST Inc. talked about the speed and power reserve of the uBus, the load capacity of the track, as well as the design of the flagship uPod. The topic of the second episode was the uninterruptible power supply system, maintenance and noise level of the uBus.
