The engineers of UST Inc. has started the debugging of the uLite’s control system

Unitsky String Technologies Inc. continues to report on the progress of the company's first project for commercial use. Let us recall that at this stage a number of measures are being taken to change the purpose of the transport and infrastructure complex to a cargo-and-passenger one. Now the engineers of UST Inc. are checking the operation of the rail electric vehicle and adjusting the control system.
The automated control system (ACS) is responsible for the failure-free and safe performance of the uLite complex. It includes external and onboard systems. The dispatcher controls the situation on the track additionally. In the absence of passengers, the transport is in a standby mode at one of the stations. The uPod travels in response to a call: a passenger needs to press a button at the station or in the uLite’s cabin to start the movement. You can contact the dispatcher using the remote-control stand. The two-way communication system, which is installed in the uPod, provides communication between the transport and the control center throughout the entire route of the uLite.
The ACS covers all aspects of the complex functioning. Based on the information collected in real time from its components, it allows to make effective decisions without human intervention:
- the control of all transport nodes and systems from the control center;
- threats and obstacles assessment in the way of the uLite’s movement using a system of sensors;
- automatic informing of the central control system about any failure and emergency occurred on the board of the vehicle;
- movement control of a rail electric vehicle according to the route task (acceleration, speed maintenance, braking, stopping at local stations) according to the pre-developed and agreed algorithms;
- duplication of the uPod’s communication system with the central control system (via two different channels).

In addition to the ACS, the uPod of the uLite complex is equipped with a collision avoidance system, an individual rescue system, a video monitoring system in the cabin, overload protection, and a fire extinguishing system.
The engineers of UST Inc. are carrying out a controlled operation. The debugging of the uPod’s acceleration and deceleration modes is being completed to determine the most comfortable driving parameters for the passenger. The determination of rail electric vehicle position at the station and track structure is also being adjusted. The debugging of the specified transport speed maintenance is nearing completion. In addition, the company's experts have developed an intuitive uPod control interface and a visualization system that displays the main parameters of the complex on the dispatcher's monitors.
