The EcoTechnoPark Resumes Construction of a Complex for Heavy-Duty uPods

The most load-carrying track implemented by the company
Thanks to the designed structure of the line, it will allow for the travel of heavy-duty uPods

Unitsky String Technologies Inc. continues to work on Line 6, a rigid heavy-duty string rail overpass. The complex is designed for testing cargo and passenger rolling stock weighing up to 60 tons. At the moment it is the most load-carrying track implemented by the company. Now construction and installation operations are underway in the test and demonstration center.

"For some time, the facility was in the conservation stage. This situation was due to changes in technical and economic indicators. Today, an expertise has been successfully conducted, with two construction phases outlined. The first involves the erection of a string rail overpass without track installation. And the second is the actual installation of the track structure," said Yury Azhar, Deputy General Director for Capital Construction.

What makes this complex unique is the ability to install and test different types of tracks. Track structures can be changed based on improvements and needs, while buildings and structures remain the same. Thanks to the designed structure of the line, it will allow for the travel of heavy-duty uPods. Besides, with a significant reduction in material intensity, the track has a higher load-bearing capacity as well as high rigidity and smoothness.

The length of the line will be 912 meters

Initially, the complex will be used only for mounted uPods. Later it will be modernized for testing and operation of both mounted and suspended vehicles. Then the string rail overpass will be equipped with additional technological areas and equipment. This is necessary to fine-tune the processes before applying the uST Solution in commercial projects. There are now 18 supporting towers installed in the EcoTechnoPark. The length of the line will be 912 meters.

In the near future, general construction and internal electrical installation activities will be carried out, and external power supply and communication networks (fiber optic lines) will be laid. It is planned to commission a traction substation, which will supply power to the rolling stock via the track structure. The estimated completion date is October 30, 2023. The complex is planned to be put into operation in November.
