UST Inc. presented string transport projects to the Vietnamese government
Vietnam is a country characterized by challenging natural conditions, including high humidity, seasonal heavy rains, flooding, and unstable soils. Under such circumstances, traditional transport faces many limitations and loses its effectiveness. UST Inc. conducted an analysis of the region’s road network and developed several string transport projects for Vietnam. The corresponding proposals were submitted to local authorities for consideration.
Some of the projects are aimed at improving transport links in the country's largest metropolis, Ho Chi Minh City. In particular, the 11.3 km Ba Son Station – Mien Tay Bus Station route includes five stations, where 50 uPods are expected to be launched. The construction of this line will provide an alternative to congested street traffic and connect densely populated areas of the city.
The 25.7 km National Highway 50 – Binh Quoi route will directly connect the capital with the airport. Tourists and locals will be able to get to the airport faster and without traffic jams. The 9.3 km Phan Van Tri – Tan Thanh Bus Station line could become an important link in suburban and interregional transport.
UST Inc. has also developed projects to improve logistics in Vietnam's capital, Hanoi. The longest of these is a 40 km route along the Hong Ha River. The uST complex can be organically integrated into Hanoi's natural and urban environment, which will improve transport links throughout the city and make coastal areas more accessible.
The 30 km Linh Nam – Gia Binh International Airport route with two stations is designed to provide fast connections between the capital and the airport. Currently, the transport infrastructure on this route is overloaded, so traffic jams are not uncommon.
If implemented, string transport will not only improve logistics in the region, but also save on road infrastructure development. Traditional road solutions require massive embankments, complex flood protection, and constant maintenance. uST technology works differently: the elevated track structure does not require a continuous roadbed, the supports are installed at specific points, and the movement itself takes place above the ground. This reduces dependence on terrain, soil, and seasonal factors.
In terms of technical and economic indicators, uST complexes are distinguished by their favorable cost with the same throughput capacity. They are approximately one and a half times cheaper than cable cars, five times more economical than the construction of light rail transport overpasses, and at least ten times cheaper than underground transport. At the same time, they remain environmentally friendly, safe, and convenient for passengers.
