Chairwoman of the Belarusian State Committee for Standardization Discusses uST Transport in Relation to Developing New Standards
Elena Morgunova, Chairperson of the Belarusian State Committee for Standardization, discussed the creation of standards for new technologies while commenting on the presidential decree regarding the five-year quality program. In her remarks, she highlighted the significance of string rail transport within this framework. What is the current status of the standards for uST?
As of 2024, Belarus is set to approve and implement 787 new state standards designed to ensure the safe introduction of innovative technologies for both people and the environment. Among these, a series of regulatory documents concerning string transport is currently under development, alongside frameworks for artificial intelligence and unmanned vehicles.
Gennady Zubelevich, Head of Product Standardization and Certification at Unitsky String Technologies Inc., noted that three government standards are under development:
“One of the standards, focusing on terms and definitions, has successfully passed domestic approval and is now undergoing normative and technical expertise at Belarusian State Institute for Standartization and Certification. The remaining two standards, pertaining to passenger and freight string rail transport, are being finalized with external organizations, which have already submitted their comments. Subsequent metrological and normative-technical evaluations are scheduled, with the first standard expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2025, and the others by the end of the second quarter”.
Zubelevich emphasized that the company is developing components for uST transport in alignment with the regulatory frameworks of the regions where these projects are set to be implemented. Existing local standards facilitate the construction of transport and infrastructure complexes in areas where uST technology is already being introduced.
