Eco-Friendly Transport as a Driver of Sustainable Tourism: UST Inc. General Director Shares Insights in Forbes
Forbes has published an opinion column by UST Inc. General Director Nadezhda Kosareva on the role of eco-friendly transport in the future of sustainable tourism. In the article, she explains how modern transport solutions help reduce environmental pressure and make eco-routes more accessible.
The author notes that ecotourism is one of the fastest-growing sectors. According to analysts’ forecasts, by 2032 the ecotourism market will reach $780 billion. However, the growth of tourist activity increases the burden on nature – especially due to transportation.
It is therefore not surprising that almost half of all carbon emissions generated during travel are linked to the movement of tourists. Yet with proper planning and the adoption of environmentally friendly transport, mass tourism can even contribute to the restoration of ecosystems.
For example, the uST string rail overpass, along which unmanned electric vehicles operate in fully automated mode, can be built on challenging terrain without large-scale earthworks, providing ecosystem-safe access to natural areas.
Promoting such solutions requires joint efforts from government, business, and the scientific community. Innovations must not only meet the needs of travelers but also protect the planet we all live on. Learn more about the technologies that can support this goal in Forbes.
