A boarding platform on the 2 km long overpass is being built at uSky Center
The uSky Test and Certification Center continues the work on the semi-rigid transport overpass. The specialists began to construct a platform for the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers from the suspended uPods.
The boarding platform is one of the infrastructure elements for the 2 km long string rail overpass. Its capacity is 2,500-3,000 passengers per hour (for Karat uBus U4-212). The total area is 110 m².
The platform is the most simple and functional construction consisting of a reinforced concrete base with a metal structure placed on it for the passengers’ embarkation and disembarkation. The minimalist design of the platform allows to significantly reduce the cost of the construction: in a short period of time without the use of heavy construction machinery and equipment.
At the moment, the platform foundation has already been settled, a steel frame has been installed on its basis, and a wall has been built. Now the platform is being floored with composite materials and the canopy is being installed to protect passengers from the sun and rain while waiting for transport.
According to UST Inc.’s specialists, the difference between this platform and, for example, platforms of the second level is its accessibility for passengers. The structure located on the first level does not imply climbing the stairs or use the elevator to get to the platform. In addition, the structure can be vertically adjusted for the convenient operation of uPods with different dimensions.
The works are expected to be completed by the end of December. The next step in the construction of the transport and infrastructure complex will be building of the technological section. It is intended for routine maintenance and repair of the rail electric vehicles on steel wheels.
