The key component of the uST complex’s power supply system has successfully passed international certification
At the uSky Test & Certification Center in Sharjah, comprehensive testing of the rectifier unit, the key component of the traction power supply system for uST transport and infrastructure complexes, has been completed. The work was carried out in collaboration with SWTUV, an international leader in technical auditing.
12 Stages of Testing
The rectifier unit is a high-tech device designed to convert alternating current into direct current, necessary for powering the traction motors of rolling stock. This development plays a crucial role in ensuring stable and safe power supply for the uST infrastructure.
The decision to conduct the certification process was made about a month ago during work on the electrification of Track No. 4. During a working meeting, uSky engineers and their colleagues from the certification organization TUV SW discussed the requirements of global standards necessary for successful certification.
The testing program included 12 stages, each based on the requirements of leading global standards, including IEC 61727:2004 for photovoltaic systems, IEC 62109-1:2010 for energy converter safety, IEC 60364-6:2016 for low-voltage electrical installations, and IEC 60364-4-41:2005 for protection against electric shock.
Compliance with the Strictest Standards
During testing, comprehensive evaluations of system protection effectiveness were carried out in both emergency and operational modes. A significant portion of the procedures focused on analyzing the temperature characteristics of components under various operating conditions, including exposure to maximum ambient temperatures. Additionally, a detailed examination ensured compliance with electrical safety standards at all levels of the system.
As a result of the audit, the rectifier unit demonstrated full compliance with all global safety and efficiency standards. The confirmed reliability of key components establishes a solid foundation for scaling uST technology and integrating it into various transportation projects.
